- Also, you may become dehydrated and have fever if you suffer severe sunburn. If you are feeling terribly sick and your temperature is high with red blisters on your skin,you are probably suffering from severe sunburn.
Home Remedies For Sunburn
1. Cool Baths: – There is nothing more comforting than Soaking in a cool bath ,this helps draw out the heat from the skin and soothe the pain and discomfort of sunburn. There are some additional things to add to your bath to give you further relief like essential oil and also baking soda.
2. Vinegar: – Vinegar is an effective and cooling treatment for sunburn. Soak towel with some vinegar and apply lightly to the burned areas. You can fill a spray bottle and spray it directly on the skin as needed.
3. Egg Whites: – If your burn is severe and extremely painful, separate the white from the yolk of an egg, and then spread the white over the affected area, this will help to cool the burning instantly. Repeat as often as needed.
4. Potatoes: – Potatoes can also be used to relieve the pain of sunburn. All you need is 2 medium potatoes, wash them thoroughly and Cut them into tiny chunks and place in a blender to liquefy. Dab the affected areas with potato juice. Let it dry, and then rinse off in a cool shower or bath.
5. Cold Milk: – The fat and lactic acid in milk is known to have soothing qualities for sunburned skin. Soak a soft cloth or cotton gauze in cold milk and apply carefully to sunburn. Do this for about 20 minutes, followed by rinsing with cold water.
6. Cold Tea: – Tannin the active ingredient in Tea helps to soothe and relieve sunburn discomfort. Brew a pot of tea, allow to cool completely, applying to the affected area with a soft sponge or cloth. Also you can also fill a spray bottle with the tea and spray directly to the skin.
7. Aloe Vera: – is there something Aloe Vera is not good for? Apparently Aloe Vera is commonly use to treat sunburn. Aside providing soothing relief, it can also help in the healing process. Apply to the affected areas as needed. Applying the gel extracted directly from the aloe Vera plant is the best, if you do not have ready access to one, you can use over the counter cream containing Aloe Vera gel. For this to work make sure that the cream contains a high concentration of Aloe Vera than any other ingredients.
8. Water: – When exposed to sunlight, your body becomes dehydrated losing water and essential body salts. To prevent the consequences of dehydration, increase your fluid intake to ensure you simply re-hydrate your body for optimum recovery and health.
Prevention is Key
Other than causing varying degrees of discomfort and pain, repeated sun exposure and sunburn make you age fast and also increase the risk of getting cataracts and skin cancer.
